•  Family Fun Carnival at Westvale Community Center

Top Spin Table Tennis Club was on display at the Family fun Carnival which was held this year (July 05/2008)at the Westvale
Community Center. Although we were set to play outdoors, it was much cooler inside and made the TT hall the coolest "place to be". We had over 35 people come in and try out the sport with great interest and enthusiasm, especially the kids. We put on a demonstration of the basic techniques used in table tennis allowing everyone to experience the nuances of the sport. We then played an exhibition match to show the level of athleticism involved in TT as well as an overview of the rules of the game. The kids enjoyed being umpires and ball catchers.

Overall, everyone had a great time and many people of all ages got to play and experience how much fun Table Tennis can be!

A big thanks to Lance Ouellette, Lucian Bogda and George Abed for making this event happen!

•  Champlain Table Tennis Club - Ottawa - Summer Camp!

      •  Junior Preparation Camp was a huge success!

The Junior Table Tennis Prep Camp

“Have fun” those words represented a motto of the camp coming from the Quebec national coach, Dejan Papic, shortly after he had introduced himself. All the juniors who were interested in the Junior Table Tennis Prep Camp in Kitchener came out in a positive and strongest way of thinking “I wanna play better". The learning experience to play better with new tools the coach has introduced to them, paid off.

The atmosphere during the camp has gotten into a dynamic and positive attitude of all players very soon. They were just about to learn many new practice techniques. I saw sweaty T-shirts, concentration, winning, loosing, drinking a lot of bottled water, having fun, and playing again. Focusing, cooling off and warming up, making mistakes and learning from them at the same time, resting and playing again, including players’ emotions and advice from the coach.  All those things have helped  the juniors to play  much better from the beginning already. Soon fun and desire to learn and play better have turned to the core practice during the two days of the camp. What a ride!

Dejan’s fresh ideas of how and what to practice in order to get better, was an opening experience and valuable lesson for everybody involved. Having fun, all players showed a positive spirit and a sense of teamwork based on learning new table tennis techniques at the same time. In addition, it was fun to learn. More than that, Val and his wife, made the yummiest sandwiches ever! They were so delicious.

Thanks to Dejan and his expertise, Attila’s assistance during the camp and all of you, who participated in any way, the camp has turned to be a huge success, Thank you all.

It was fun.

2008 Ontario Winter Games

Practice after practice, hard work and talent is what the table tennis athletes have demonstrated at the 2008 Ontario Winter Games, which took place at Camp Borden.  The opening ceremonies were in the scenic Collingwood.
This event was about competing against each other but it was also about getting to know the other kids from other clubs and making new friends.
The athletes, varying in age between 7 and 19, had to play lots of games.  At times, this was not easy.  They got a chance to demonstrate and show their skills, talents and commitment to this beautiful sport, which in Canada is really overlooked.
Some of the juniors from TopSpin TT Club participated for the first time, some were ‘veterans’.
Congratulations, TopSpin TT Club Kitchener had 15 juniors participating in this beautiful event; we'll see you at the 2010 Ontario Winter Games!
